The church has condemned the killing of VHP leader Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati , but do we have a single Hindu priest or extremist or not so extremist condemning the killing of the nun or attacks on harmless christian household setting ablaze church after church and even police station. Is there anybody from the Hindu brigade condemning these act of violence. How many innocent lives to avenge one Swami? And is this what the Swami taught to his followers?

“The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) has condemned the killing of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati and five others on Saturday night by a Maoist group in Orissa.

The bishops have also “appealed for peace and harmony” in the state and urgent intervention of the central government to check spreading violence against Christians in the state.”

Not just the Hindu swami I have not even heard any of the political leaderscondemning the madness going on in Orissa.

As per police reports 11 people have been killed in the violence since Saturday. However, local TV channels and newspapers said at least 17 people have died in the communal violence and the bodies of 13 people had been found.

Asit Kumar Mohanty, regional coordinator of the Global Council of Indian Christians, claimed that 30 Christians had been killed since Saturday.

“As per our estimate, 10,000 Christian families have fled to the forests after their houses were burnt and they were attacked by rioters. Over 4,000 people have been injured and more than 20,000 houses have been burnt,” Mohanty told IANS. [Source]

And then you have a Suresh Chandra Mohapatra who calls these act of extreme violence as ‘natural’ He said, “It is an emotional and spontaneous reaction of people to the killing of Swami Laxamanananda Saraswati,”

If this is natural I don’t know where is this country going.
